About Red Ribbon Club

The Red Ribbon is internationally recognized as a symbol of the struggle against HIV/AIDS. It is also a symbol of solidarity and a commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS.
The Red Ribbon club was started in Sri. A.B.R. Government Degree College, Repalle, Bapatla District in 2010. Since its inception in the college, the Red Ribbon club unit has carried out wide range of activities and training programmes like ‘Blood Donation’ Camps, awareness sessions on HIV/AIDS and healthy living. The sole object of the club is to make the society without HIV/AIDS and also create awareness among the students and teachers. Through the Red Ribbon club youth are encouraged to learn about safe and healthy lifestyle, safe sexual behavior and voluntary blood donation.
Sri ABR Government Degree College, Repalle, Bapatla District has won many commendations and laurels with the slogan “Live and Let Live”. Our club follows the world Health Organization (WHO) recommended life skills such as empathy, problem solving skills, interpersonal relationship, creative thinking, critical thinking, coping with stress, managing feelings and emotions, self awareness, decision making, effective communications skills to shape the overall personality of the students.


Objectives

1. To create awareness among the youth particularly the students about the HIV/AIDS.
2. To prevent the occurrence of new sexually transmitted infections, particularly HIV among the youth.
3. To encourage voluntary blood donation.
4. To prepare the youth as peer educators and agents of change by developing their skills and leadership, team building and communication.

RRC Actitivities

1. To conduct awareness camps on HIV/AIDS , voluntary blood donation and health and hygiene.
2. Special awareness programmes on women related health issues are to be organized.
3. Special programmes are to be conducted to enhance the skills of the students.
