The Department of Political Science at Sri ABR Government Degree College was established in 1972 and has been a
cornerstone in fostering political awareness and civic responsibility among students.
Until the academic year 2023-24, the department offered the B.A. HEP (History, Economics, Political Science) program,
providing a strong foundation in social sciences.
From the academic year 2024-25, the department has introduced B.A. Political Science Minor,
aligning with the evolving academic framework to enhance interdisciplinary learning.
Beyond academics, the department actively engages students through debates, group discussions,
and seminars on contemporary political and social issues.
Regular awareness programs, guest lectures by experts, and student-led
initiatives on democracy, governance, and constitutional rights empower students with critical
thinking and active citizenship skills.
